Calm reigns in the quiet Alentejo village of Alter do Chão. Alter has a rich and important heritage, distributed through its pleasant white houses with colorful stripes. There is much to know in the Alter do Chão, such as its castle, whose construction dates back to the fourteenth century.
In Castelo de Vide, we are surprised by the castle surrounded by white houses that stands out in the landscape. But the biggest surprise is inside the village, where we find one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Portugal. There is still time to enjoy the freshwater in the fountains along the way, well known for its thermal properties.
Marvão, a picturesque village on top of a mountain, where its castle was made off the same mountain stone. This medieval village protected by walls is one of the treasures of Portugal.
